Im sharing my story for the benefit of those who are planning to install an a/c system in their car and for others who just wanted to get informed. Last year, I decided to have my aircon installed by Wipeout Autocraft.
Refrigerant Leaks Out of the A/C System
The Freon has leaked out of the a/c hose. The a/c specialist checked it and according to them the caused of this leak is that the front right tire is hitting the hose constantly. They recommended a band-aid repair by cutting the section of the damaged hose and just used a connector to make it work again.
After a couple of weeks, the refrigerant leaks out of the system again! This time, we figured out that the location of the hose is close to the stabilizer link. And the stabilizer link is hitting the hose consistently. As a resolution, the mechanic removed the stabilizer link so that there will be no moving part that could ever hit the hose again.
I researched and asked around about these issues and apparently, these couldve been prevented from the start if the a/c installer did his job correctly. Installing the system is easy enough, what matters more is the quality of work because this dictates the longevity of the parts and the system as a whole. Good installation practices, using proper brackets and tie downs, proper routing of the lines, etc. does take careful planning, extra effort, skills, and most of all time and patience which apparently was lacking from the so called "specialist" when it was installed.
Afterwards, I've mentioned to Japs Javier (owner of Wipeout Autocraft) this morning about my concerns on the stabilizer link and a/c hoses. But I was surprised when he replied these lines: hindi na daw nya kasalanan kung nasira yung hose basta lumamig ang aircon tapos na ang trabaho di ko rin daw ikamamatay ang pagkawala ng aircon The workmanship defines who or what the shop is about. Shops need to take pride at what they do, and be responsible enough to correct their own mistakes.
